We do not treat research as separable from implementation. An architecture that cannot be built, measured, and operated under real constraints has not yet answered the question it set out to address.
Every research area in our program is therefore paired with engineering work: a mechanism, a measurement, and a means of verification. Where a claim depends on a value we have not measured, we say so. Where a capability is designed but not yet built, we describe it as designed rather than delivered.
That discipline is what allows research findings to become protected intellectual property and, ultimately, deployable technology.
